Michael Stars’ looks are striking, both for their effortless style and also for their effortful emphasis on sustainability in retail.  As a fashion icon from an international fashion capital in Los Angeles, the brand has continuously set standards for compelling looks and doing good.  The redesign effort centered around showcasing their looks, while supporting with brand storytelling and the desired impact to leave the world better than they found it.

With stunning photography and art direction already in play, elevating the art direction and allowing sharp typography and strong copy to support was the primary focus for the Michael Stars redesign.

Key Features

An editorial + shoppable lookbook

With a more traditional seasonality aspect of the business, an editorial flair allows for customers to explore looks rather than products, giving them an ease of exploration and purchasing entire looks all at once.

Advanced search and filtering

In utilizing advanced search and filtering with Searchspring, the intuitive search takeover allows for a quick find of the desired products along with advanced filtering to find just the right variant along the way.

Dynamic variant selection and discounting for seasonality

An advanced variant selection supporting core colors vs seasonal colors was crucial, as color plays a huge part in the product line.  In addition, individual colors have different merchandising/promotional strategy, so we designed discount specific color ways as required.

ReCommerce integration

Utilizing ThredUp, we partnered to create a true ReCommerce solution.  Given the brands’ emphasis on sustainability, this was a huge win for them, and for the environment.
